    The award-winning Hospital has proudly served the diverse, multi-cultural population of South East Toronto since 1929.  TEGH offers an extensive range of ambulatory, inpatient and community-based programs and services delivered by 2,600 employees and 400 physicians and midwives.  Each year, TEGH cares for nearly 20,000 inpatients, delivers close to 3,500 babies and has more than 60,000 emergency visits and 215,000 outpatient visits.  Its 515 inpatient beds are comprised of acute care, rehabilitation, mental health and complex continuing care. TEGH is also affiliated with many educational institutions including, the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine.

    TEGH is committed to developing and training staff for personal and professional growth and to ensure we are able to provide compassionate quality care that maximizes the expertise and contribution of all staff.  Highlights of current training programs:

    • Emotional Intelligence for Personal Leadership:  Teaches Emotional Intelligence (EI) concepts including how to manage your own emotions and those of others around you. 
    • Foundations of Leadership:  An introductory leadership course where participants explore how self-awareness, change and mental models shape our experience as a leader at all levels within an organization.
    • Computer Courses:  Basic and intermediate Microsoft Office courses are offered on a regular basis.
    • Online Training Programs:  To accommodate staff schedules and preferred learning styles, TEGH has built an extensive selection of online training programs.
    • Late Career Nursing Initiative:  Offers nurses 55 or older an opportunity to use their skills and expertise away from the bedside one day per week in various capacities, such as mentoring new grads.
