Giving back to the communities in which we live and work and treating our environment in a respectful manner has always been part of our culture. In 2012 alone, Maxxam and our employees raised over $90,000 for charities across the country, and contributed over 2,500 hours to community service through our "Day of Caring" program, a paidday per year that employees can use to volunteer at a charitable organization of their choice.
In the past year, volunteerism activities of Maxxam employees ranged from organizing Day of Caring teams to build homes for Habitat for Humanity, participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, adopting and cleaning-up a stretch of highway or to restore a local community playground to organizing over 100 volunteers to support flood relief efforts in Southern Alberta. ...
